New Hampshire Poet Laureate Jennifer Militello Showcases ľֱ on Statewide Stage

New England College is proud to celebrate the extraordinary work and outreach of Jennifer Militello, acclaimed poet, educator, and New Hampshire’s poet laureate—and a valued member of the ľֱ faculty. As poet laureate, Militello has been traveling across the state leading workshops, speaking at schools, and promoting the transformative power of poetry. Wherever she goes, she takes New England College with her.
In April, during National Poetry Month, Militello visited The Derryfield School, where she spoke with students and faculty about her journey as a writer and the importance of creative expression.
She also partnered with the New Hampshire Writers’ Project, delivering an inspiring virtual talk on poetry and her upcoming workshop, “Writing Toward the Unseen,” which she’ll lead this summer. Throughout the discussion, Militello spoke passionately about ľֱ’s supportive writing community and her work with students.
Militello’s recent activity exemplifies the College’s values in action: academic excellence, creativity, community, and impact. Her visibility and voice as New Hampshire’s poet laureate are a point of deep pride for ľֱ and a powerful reminder of the real-world reach our faculty bring to their disciplines.
“Jennifer’s work shows our students what’s possible,” said Dr. Wayne F. Lesperance, Jr., President of New England College. “She’s not only an outstanding teacher, but she’s also shaping the cultural and literary landscape of our state.”
